Love Your Kitchen Announces A New Product Category, Love Your Tea

(LosAngeles.CityRegions.Com, June 07, 2016 ) Los Angeles, California -- Love Your Kitchen is announcing their latest product for brewing tea. The development of this new product is in response to the changing retail tea marketing in the United States. Their new tea infuser can be used in a tea mug or a tea pot for brewing loose leaf tea and is now available on Amazon.com

The development of this product reflects the latest data on American tea consumption. Historically, Americans have used tea bags but there is an ongoing trend toward loose leaf tea based on the improved flavor, toxins in bagged tea and wider selection of premium teas from around the world. According to Tea Association of America in 2015, loose tea continues to grow in both dollars and units.

In a presentation at the May 2015 World Tea Expo by Howard Telford, senior beverages analyst, stated that the US is the fourth largest tea market in the world based on retail value of $2.4 billion in 2014. The top three tea markets in terms of retail value in 2014 were China, Russia, and Japan, with market values of $9.7 billion, $4.0 billion, and $3.5 billion, respectively.

Demand for tea has been growing at a healthy clip for decades. By weight, Americans now drink almost 20 percent more tea then they did back in 2000, according to market research firm Euromonitor.

As a result, to the benefit of major tea producing nations like China and India, tea imports are soaring. They have grown by roughly 40 percent over the past ten years, nearly 70 percent over the past 20 years, and more than 700 percent over the last 50 years, according to data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Why are Americans Drinking More Tea?

The U.S Tea Association claims that about four out of five consumers drink tea in the US. One of the main reasons for tea's growing popularity is its perceived health benefits compared to soda or coffee. Many consumers believe that tea varieties like black tea and green tea increase metabolism and may prevent cardiovascular disease.

According to the Department of Respiratory Medicine, Allergy and Rheumatic Diseases, Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine – "Flavonoids, which are plant secondary metabolites and ubiquitously present in vegetables, fruits and teas, possess antioxidant and immune-modulating as well as anti-allergic traits."

With a feel-good, stress reducing and healthful beverage like tea, it is bound to be popular. People are starting to take control of their health and recognize that health depends on good food and beverages.

Nine studies, including more than 800,000 participants, have looked at the association between tea and liver disease. Those who drank tea were less likely to have chronic liver disease, cirrhosis, or liver cancer. Those studies confirmed the findings of a previous systematic review published in 2008:
• Tea has been associated with a lower risk of depression. A 2015 meta-analysis of 11 studies with almost 23,000 participants found that for every three cups of tea consumed per day, the relative risk of depression decreased 37 percent.
• Tea was also associated with a reduction in the risk of stroke, with those consuming at least three cups a day having a 21 percent lower risk than those consuming less than a cup a day.
• A more recent meta-analysis examined 22 prospective studies on more than 850,000 people and found that drinking an additional three cups of tea a day was associated with a reduction in coronary heart disease.

It is no wonder that Americans have developed a taste for tea and increased their consumption.
